OL-DL Lines

I'm humored with the blind optimism heading into each and every year with our Cowboys.  The fact is we are weakest at maybe the most important positions in football next to QB.  We are thin and vaguely talented in the trenches.

Yes, Demarcus Ware will be Demarcus Ware but beyond that, who do you trust to stop Alfred Morris and Robert Griffin III on 3rd and 3 and they are running the read-option?  Ratliffe has had his share of Tide and is in the spin cycle.  Hatcher is a training camp hero like he is every year before some injury takes him out of his groove or he forgets that the real games don't start until September.  Lissemore, Spencer, and even Crawford before the achilles injury were all no more than one year wonders or guys with the dreaded, potential.  Even though I must say I do like Ben Bass, the DL is nothing to cause fear among the NFC East.

The OL doesn't even need analysis.  Doug Free, Bernardeau, and Livings are starters.  Yeah go ahead and pencil in 7-9.  We have a tough schedule and the spine of our team is pathetic.  No OL and DL strength, no playoffs.

I guess I'll rely on Fantasy Football... oh wait, I suck at that too.  It's going to be a long football season.

Fish, I can't disagree with anything you have said. However, I drink the cool-aide every year and every year I think it is going to be different.

I would not have franchised Spencer, but since we have I think he will play very well. He wants to make the big pay check in FA and playing well will help that. Not that 10MM is a bad payday.

Last year we missed the playoffs by inches, JG iced our kicker and the second kick faded. If Dez makes a catch in bounds we would have been in. There were a couple of games we were leading and the defense let the opposing offense drive the field. I am glad to see Rob Ryan go, he didn't impress me and his defense couldn't stop anyone.

If only we had an offensive line, give Romo time and let the WR run their routes. Hell Brady would have been killed playing behind our line.

So with all of those excuses and many more I could list I have hope. I go to a sports bar when the Cowboys aren't on TV, a few years ago the place was packed with Cowboy fans, then not so many, the last three years it has been just me and one other guy; and he defends them more than I. So winning or losing, there we are drinking our beer and cheering for our Cowboys. I am betting if you lived here you would be joining us every Sunday...then we would have three. LOL

One of these years we will be right and have another superbowl. I have to believe it is this year....every year.

But, in reality I think what you said is right.
